I am an ecologist with broad interests in natural resources conservation. My research focuses on pollinators and other insects who feed on floral rewards (pollen and nectar), but my greatest passion is teaching. Sometimes diving into the miniature world of insects feels like studying life on another planet, and I love bringing my students and the public into the fascinating lives of "creepy crawlies." As a scientist, my primary goal is for others to better understand and appreciate nature and the environment through my research, teaching, mentoring, and outreach. When I'm not sciencing, I enjoy creating art inspired by insects, hiking with my dog, and riding my horse on the trails.
